Hi, I'm Becky

I’m the proud founder of Flitter Tuition, a qualified primary teacher and someone who genuinely loves helping children grow in confidence, discover what they are capable of and find enjoyment in learning.

My journey began at the University of Plymouth, where I graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Education degree in Primary Teaching with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Since then, I have spent my career working with children across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, teaching both here in the UK and internationally in Dubai.

Throughout my teaching career, I have taken on a range of classroom and leadership roles, including Key Stage and Phase Leadership, Year Leadership and subject leadership in areas such as Phonics and Science. I have also had the privilege of mentoring and supporting trainee teachers and Early Career Teachers.

But the part of teaching I have always loved most is the children themselves.

After many years in the classroom, I became increasingly aware of how difficult it can be to give every child the individual time, attention and space they sometimes need within a busy class. Some children need gaps carefully revisited. Some need time to rebuild their confidence. Others are ready to be stretched and challenged further.

That is why I created Flitter Tuition.

My Mission

Nurturing confidence, strengthening foundations and helping children take flight.

At the heart of Flitter Tuition is a simple belief: children learn best when they feel safe, happy, understood and confident enough to have a go.

Sessions are purposeful, practical and engaging, using games, conversation, whiteboards, movement and hands-on activities to make learning meaningful and enjoyable.

Children are encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes and try again, helping them develop independence, resilience and a positive attitude towards learning.

Every child is different, so sessions are shaped around their strengths, needs and interests, whether they need extra support, stronger foundations, a confidence boost or further challenge.

What matters at Flitter Tuition

01

Confidence first

Children need to believe they can before they are willing to take risks with their learning. I create a calm, encouraging environment where children feel comfortable giving things a go, even when they are not completely sure.

02

Personal to your child

There is no one-size-fits-all approach. I get to know each child, their learning needs, their interests and the things that motivate them, then use this to make learning meaningful and engaging.

03

Purposeful, enjoyable learning

Games, practical resources, stories, whiteboards and hands-on activities might look like fun, but there is careful teaching behind them. Sessions are designed to strengthen knowledge and understanding while keeping children actively involved in their learning.

04

More than academics

Academic progress matters, but so does independence, resilience, communication, problem solving and self-belief. I want children to leave Flitter Tuition feeling proud of what they have achieved and increasingly confident in what they can tackle next.
